The Black Knight: Chapter 1

On one particular night in January, a young man walked out of his house. Putt. Putt. Putt. Went his feet across the cobblestone path that surrounded his home. The man’s name was not one you would really hear regularly. So, he preferred keep it a secret. But to his little town, he was known as the black knight. This man walked to the back of his house, where his horse, nightfrost, was waiting. He mounted his horse, putting his feet into the stirrups. Then, he and his horse sped away into the crisp night.

at 7:30 am, Jackson woke up from his bed. He heard the sound of birds flying around in his yard. He rolled over, grabbed the windowsill, and pulled himself up. He looked outside. Today was Friday, the day Jackson also delivered the post. He slipped out of bed, Ran downstairs, put on his coat, and walked outside. It was cold and windy outside. It was also raining a little bit, but Jackson did not care about getting wet. In fact, he loved the rain. So, we went over to the post office to pick up the mail to deliver. On his way to the first stop, Jackson saw the shape of a black horse. The horse ran across the field in front of him, and leaped. Landing into Jackson’s yard. When Jackson looked, he saw nothing at first. But then, a cloaked figure appeared, walking up and down the cobblestone path. The figure walked towards Jackson, urging him to come. Jackson followed. The man lifted Jackson onto his horse and they sped off into the woods. Jackson started to get tired, and he fell asleep. When he awoke, Jackson was sitting on the horse still. But when he looked down, the horse was different in a way. Not a real horse. More like one that resembles a knight on a chess board. He carefully slid off the horse. He turned around and saw a big Black figure standing in front of him. The figure was the man that brought him here. He motioned for Jackson to come. Jackson followed him into a tent. Inside the tent, was an elegant woman with black, velvet robes. The women spoke to Jackson. “ Hello fellow soldier. I knew you would come here eventually. We have lost one of our soldiers and needed someone to take his place.” Jackson looked confused. “ I’m not a soldier, I’m just a kid.” said Jackson softly. The woman stood up and said, “you may be only a kid, but we need you to help defend our kingdom. I am the queen.” Jackson looked up at her and said, “ The queen?” The queen smiled. “Yes. I am your queen, your mother.” Jackson looked concerned. “but I already have a mother” Said Jackson who, was very much confused. Then the Man that next to her spoke up, “ And I am your king, your father. Come, follow me my son, meet my servants.” The king put his hand on Jackson’s shoulder and they walked into a big room with a big table set in the middle. Jackson was wondering where the Man that brought Jackson her went to. He didn’t he him here. Just then, Some one ran over, catching his breath. “Hello, new soldier! “ he said quickly. “ I am bishop number 1, but you can just call me Bish!” He looks at Jackson. Jackson says, “ Oh, well I don’t know what you all think about me, but I’m no soldier. I can’t fight in your army. I’m just a kid.” The king looks at Jackson and smiles. “ Yes, you are a kid. But not just a kid. With some training and practice, you can help us in our army!” Jackson stood up tall. “OK. What do I do?” The king looked around before saying, “help us put the other king in checkmate of course. One move at a time.”
